A Visit to Uganda leads to a series of books...and more!

Following on from our work with the Jinja Educational Trust, and upon meeting the local children of Jinja on a trip to Uganda, David Jackson was inspired to create a few stories about ‘Patricia the Hippo at the Source of the Nile’.

This has since grown into a series of ten children’s books about the adventures of a bright purple hippopotamus named Patricia, who possesses some special powers, along with many other characters. All the stories have a continuing environmental message mixed with a little mystery.

Having been officially launched at a JET fundraising event in London, the books are now being sent out to Africa. The books are suitable for different-aged children because the stories gradually get a little more complicated as Patricia grows older.

In addition to the books we have also created a simple website, a soft plush toy of Patricia, developed a new Patricia the Hippo themed ‘Snakes & Ladders’ game and a fun alphabet chart to assist in children’s learning.
